For HR, Founders, Managers, Executives & C-suite

When Leaders Burnout, Your Entire Business is at Risk.

Specialist 1:1 leadership burnout stabilisation, protecting decision capacity, 1.5x salary replacement costs and team-wide stress contagion.

The hidden cost of leadership burnout

54% of leaders report burnout, with the impact of chronic stress causing team-wide absenteeism, and replacement costs of 1.5–2x salary per key staff member(1).

Leadership performance risk mitigation

93% of sector leaders agree that burnout negatively impacts organisational performance(1), directly reducing decision quality and resilience.

Quantifiable returns, not another cost

For every £1 invested in leadership wellbeing, you secure a £4.70 average return (1). By preventing team-wide “quiet quitting” and leadership burnout, which costs 6x more than efficient working (2).

Create real culture, beyond the tick-box

Stressed leaders directly increase team burnout. With ‘cultural contagion’ becoming a growing business risk, 88% of UK employees now opt for wellbeing reputation being as important as salary(1).

Organisations Make These 6 Mistakes When Leaders Burnout:

Assume EAP/PMI is enough. Less than 3% of execs use generic support. It’s short-term, surface-level, not built to stabilise high-stakes leaders under sustained pressure.

Treat it as generic wellbeing. Executive burnout isn’t “poor self-care”, it’s role-specific chronic stress that demands targeted psychotherapy interventions, not employee-wide fixes.

Avoid calling in specialists. DIY or generalists delay recovery. Without psychotherapy-led burnout expertise, retention costs (1.5x salary) and decision risks continue to escalate.

Hope it’ll “settle down”. Burnout compounds fast. While you wait, decisions falter, mistakes multiply and team contagion spreads, until sudden absence or resignation forces emergency action.

Buy more wellbeing training. Workshops add workload, not relief. Leaders need high-frequency 1:1 stabilisation that is deeply relational to their problems.

Over-rely on internal HR/line managers. Your employees can’t be crisis‑containment for key staff. It drains capacity, blurs boundaries, and lacks the clinical depth for executive stabilisation.

This support is not for you if:

❌ You’re currently satisfied with EAPs or internal check-ins and aren’t looking for a more intensive, specialist option for your leaders.

❌ Budget is the main driver, and you’re not yet ready to invest at the level required to protect senior talent from burnout and replacement costs.

❌ You’re primarily interested in broad wellbeing initiatives (workshops, webinars, self-paced courses) rather than deep 1:1 work with specific leaders.

❌ Your organisation prefers to manage burnout informally and isn’t yet aligned around dedicated support for executive resilience.

❌ You don’t plan to track outcomes such as changes in absence, performance, or retention for your key leaders.

This support is for you if:

✅ You’re an HR leader, founder, or senior executive responsible for high-impact leaders who are showing signs of burnout or strain.

✅ You’ve already tried EAPs, coaching, or internal support and sense they’re not going far enough for the leaders you’re most worried about.

✅ You want rapid, confidential access to specialist support that stabilises decision-making, energy, and strategic focus, without exposing the leader internally.

✅ You’re focused on safeguarding organisational resilience: keeping key people in role, protecting culture, and avoiding disruptive exits.

✅ You’re ready to invest in evidence-based 1:1 intervention and to notice the impact in performance, team climate, and retention over the next 3–12 months.

💎 #Leader Tip

Alternatives

Your other options.

The 1:1 leadership stabilisation works alongside your EAPs, training, and organisational support by adding specialist depth for at-risk execs without replacing what you already have.

Generic EAP’s/PMI

Convenient access, but leaders rarely use them (<3% uptake). Surface-level support doesn’t stabilise executive burnout or protect organisational outcomes.

Organisational Psychologists

Deep diagnostics + systemic recommendations. Expensive, slow to start, and broad, great for studies and data, but not for stabilising leaders.

Wellbeing Workshops

Company-wide training feels proactive but adds workload for already-strained leaders; no personalisation or high-frequency support for at-risk talent.

General Executive Coaches

Action-oriented performance focus. Often lacks psychotherapy training to handle clinical burnout’s cognitive + emotional complexity.

FAQ’s

Frequently asked questions.

⏰ Logistics

How quickly can we start?

If we’re a good fit after the consultation, I typically start within 48 hours. This is designed for situations where waiting lists aren’t an option.

How long is the stabilisation?

I offer 3, 6, and 12‑month leadership burnout stabilisation packages. We decide the right length based on risk, role demands, and organisational goals.

Where do sessions take place?

All sessions are online via secure video, so I can work with leaders globally while they remain in their usual environment. Occasionally, we do hold sessions within their workplace if agreed prior and based in London.

Do you work with leaders in different time zones?

Yes. I regularly work across time zones and will agree a consistent slot that fits the leader’s schedule.

Won’t investing in a leader signal weakness or admit organisational fault?

No, it’s strategic leadership. Research shows executive burnout is increasingly seen as a necessary business expense, not personal failure. With leaders 56% more likely to burn out than average employees, organisations now treat specialist support like insurance on critical assets: protecting £150k+ replacement costs and decision capacity without blame. My confidential 1:1 work keeps it private, positioning you as proactive rather than reactive.

What type of professions have you worked with?

  • Founders, entrepreneurs, startup leaders
  • Senior managers and executives
  • Creatives: content creators, designers, producers, writers, actors
  • High-pressure professionals: lawyers, consultants, finance
  • Engineers, developers, product managers
  • Advertising, media and agency professionals
  • Healthcare: doctors, nurses and coaches
  • Academics, researchers and PhD candidates

Most have one thing in common: they’re very capable, driven and used to functioning at a high level, but feel unable to sustain their wellbeing and career in balance.

🧠 How this works

Who is the client – the organisation or the leader?

The organisation is the sponsor, and the leader is my client in the room. That means sessions are confidential to the client, within our agreed limits. The sponsor receives quarterly detailed updates on leaders stabilisation progress.

What exactly do you do with the leader?

I provide psychotherapy‑led 1:1 stabilisation: interrupting burnout, rebuilding capacity, and strengthening decision‑making under pressure. We focus on practical changes that protect both their wellbeing and their performance.

What kinds of situations do you help with?

Common scenarios include: stabilising burned out leaders, role transition support, complex project stress management, assessing interview leadership candidates stress resilience and organisational wellbeing consulting.

Is this coaching or therapy?

You get the best of both. I’m a registered psychotherapist specialising in executive burnout, so we address root causes of chronic stress, while staying focused on organisational leadership outcomes.

How do you handle confidentiality with the organisation?

Session content stays private. We agree in advance what can be shared with HR or line managers (for example, attendance and high‑level progress) so the leader feels safe and you still see value.

Can you also fix our culture or wider wellbeing strategy?

No. My role is to stabilise individual leaders. If wider cultural or structural issues are driving burnout, I can name that and signpost you to organisational or wellbeing specialists.

What outcomes can we realistically expect?

Typical outcomes include improved decision quality, reduced burnout risk, better presence with their team, and a lower likelihood of sudden resignation or long‑term absence. I don’t promise guarantees, but we agree clear goals and track progress.

What do I do next?
  1. Book a free strategy call here to discuss your situation and access a free leadership burnout risk assessment.
  2. We then have a free followup consultation with the sponsor, client and practitioner to align goals.
  3. We onboard the leader and start the burnout intervention sessions within 48 hours.

💳 Pricing

How much does it cost?

Leadership burnout stabilisation is billed quarterly per leader, and is dependent on initial risk assessment.

Is there a free initial conversation?

Yes. I offer a free 30‑minute strategy consultation to understand your situation, assess fit, and outline a stabilisation plan. There’s no obligation to proceed.

You can book your strategy call here or email hello@davidpearce.co with your query.

How do you demonstrate ROI to the organisation?

We look at indicators such as retention of the leader, changes in absence/presenteeism, feedback on leadership effectiveness, and the successful delivery of key projects or transitions.

What if we already have an EAP, coaching, or wellbeing provider?

That’s common. My work sits alongside what you already have, providing specialist depth for a specific at‑risk leader rather than a replacement for existing services.
